About Us

A foundation rooted in dignity, faith, and care-filled service

Emmaus Care Foundation accompanies poor and vulnerable persons with compassionate, accountable, and sustainable action shaped by Catholic Social Teaching and a commitment to human dignity.

Who We Are

Serving poor and vulnerable persons with compassion and purpose

Emmaus Care Foundation is a faith-based, non-profit, non-government organization established to promote human dignity, restore hope, and improve the quality of life of poor and vulnerable persons. We work at the intersection of compassion, development, and accountability so that people facing poverty, exclusion, or hardship are met not merely with charity, but with pathways toward dignity and lasting wellbeing.

We believe humanitarian service should meet immediate needs while also helping people recover stability, agency, and opportunity. That conviction shapes how we design programs, build partnerships, and remain accountable to those we serve.

What defines us

Emmaus Care Foundation exists to restore hope in ways that are relational, principled, and sustainable. We do not see people as projects, but as persons deserving care, respect, and meaningful opportunity. That conviction shapes not just what we do, but how we do it. It also shapes how we speak about our work and how we remain accountable to the people and communities we serve. We are a foundation rooted in dignity, faith, and care-filled service.

Faith community and humanitarian service in action

Our Inspiration

Guided by faith and sustainable human development

The Foundation is inspired by Catholic Social Teaching on the Preferential Option for the Poor and by the global vision for sustainable human development. Together, these commitments shape both our moral imagination and our practical work.

These inspirations keep our work both spiritually grounded and practically attentive to the real pressures communities face every day.

Catholic Social Teaching

Our service is inspired by the Preferential Option for the Poor, a call to place the needs and dignity of vulnerable persons at the center of our response.

Sustainable Human Development

We align compassionate action with a broader vision of human flourishing, inclusion, resilience, and long-term development outcomes.

Faith in Accompaniment

We believe real service means walking with people through hardship, listening well, sharing resources responsibly, and helping restore hope.

Why Emmaus

The Emmaus story is our picture of accompaniment and renewed hope

The name Emmaus reflects the Gospel story in Luke 24:13–35, where Christ restored hope to discouraged disciples on the road to Emmaus. In the same spirit, the Foundation accompanies the poor and marginalized in their journey towards dignity and hope. For us, Emmaus is more than a name. It is a model of compassionate presence, listening, encouragement, and transformation.

Core Direction

The statements that anchor our identity and work

Our vision, mission, and goal keep us focused on dignity-centered service that is spiritually grounded, socially responsive, and development-minded.

Vision

A society where every person, especially the poor and marginalized, lives with dignity, hope, and equal access to opportunities for a meaningful and sustainable life.

Mission

To live out the Gospel mandate of love by promoting the dignity of the human person through sharing resources, empowering the poor, reducing poverty and hunger, supporting education, promoting equality, and building partnerships in line with Catholic Social Teaching and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our Goal

The overall goal of the Foundation is to restore hope, protect human dignity, and improve the living conditions of poor vulnerable persons through sustainable humanitarian and development programs.

Our Values

The principles that shape every decision and every program

Our values are not aspirational slogans. They are working commitments that guide how we serve, partner, and remain accountable to the communities who trust us.

Respect for human dignity

Every person is created with worth and must be treated with care, fairness, and reverence regardless of circumstance.

Preferential option for the poor

We intentionally center the needs, voices, and rights of poor and vulnerable persons in our decisions and programs.

Compassion and love

Our work is animated by empathy, mercy, and concrete acts of care that affirm the humanity of those we serve.

Justice and Equality

We pursue fairness, inclusion, and equal access to opportunity so that no one is left behind or treated as less worthy.

Faith in action

We translate belief into practical service, allowing the Gospel mandate of love to shape visible, measurable impact.

Solidarity

We stand with communities in their struggles and aspirations, building trust through presence, partnership, and shared responsibility.

Stewardship

Resources entrusted to us are managed carefully, responsibly, and in ways that maximize impact for the people who need support most.

Transparency and Accountability

We value honest communication, measurable outcomes, and responsible systems that strengthen trust with communities and partners.

Sustainable development

We design interventions that not only meet urgent needs, but also strengthen resilience, opportunity, and long-term wellbeing.

How We Work

Practical compassion shaped by dignity and sustainability

Our model of service combines immediate response with empowerment, partnership, and long-term thinking so that communities are not only supported, but strengthened. We want support to feel humane in the moment and constructive for the future.

Share resources with dignity

We respond to urgent needs in ways that respect people’s agency, reduce shame, and affirm their inherent worth.

Empower for long-term change

Relief is paired with education, livelihood support, and opportunity-building so communities can move toward resilience.

Build through partnership

We collaborate with churches, institutions, donors, and development actors because durable impact requires shared effort.

Align local work with global goals

Our programs connect grassroots realities with broader development priorities, especially the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our Commitments

What partners, donors, and others can expect from us

Depth and quality in humanitarian work are built through consistent commitments, not slogans. These are some of the operational convictions we seek to embody every day.

Presence before prescription

We begin by listening, learning context, and honoring the lived realities of the communities we serve before deciding how best to intervene.

Care with practical substance

For us, care is not abstract language. It must be visible in food on the table, children in school, women with opportunity, and vulnerable persons treated with dignity.

Service with accountability

We are committed to transparent stewardship, measurable outcomes, and relationships that deserve the trust of donors, partners, and communities.

Development that includes everyone

Our work resists exclusion by intentionally reaching people at risk of being forgotten, underserved, or pushed to the margins.
